RWE npower outlines updated plans for new power station at Willington

27 Oct 2009 Power Stations / East Midlands

RWE npower is inviting local people to view updated plans for a possible new Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power station at Willington.

In early November the company will hold a series of public consultation events following on from similar sessions in June.  The events will give local people a chance to view updated proposals and provide comments and feedback in advance of the submission of a consent application, which is expected before the end of this year.

Anyone interested in the proposals is being invited to attend the events, which are taking place between 3pm and 8pm on Wednesday 4 November and Thursday 5 November at Willington Sports & Social Club and between 3pm and 7.30pm on Friday 6 November at Findern Village Hall.

Mike Peel, Willington Project Manager for RWE npower, said: “We recognise that the possibility of a new gas-fired power station at Willington is an important matter for the local area and we want to make sure that local people are kept fully informed.

“Our plans have moved on since we held the first round of events in June, and this second round of exhibitions will give local people a chance to view our updated proposals. Local opinion is very important to us and we hope that as many people as possible come along to find out more and provide feedback.”
