2010 children set a new cricket world record

07 Jul 2010

npower Urban Cricket World Record Attempt 2010

The children, from schools in Nottingham and around the County joined forces under npower’s Urban Cricket Scheme.  The new world record is for the most children playing cricket at the same time at the same place.

Urging the children on, and providing expert advice were current England players Graham Onions and Samit Patel, along with England legends Mike Gatting and Devon Malcolm. Also present were local boys Paul Franks and Matt Wood from Nottingham County Cricket Club.

Every person that takes part will be given an npower Urban Cricket set, containing a bat, ball and stickers, allowing the children to hone their cricket skills.

All invited schools have already taken part in the cricket development programmes organised by the club and as part of this World Record Attempt have raise sponsorship for good causes.

CP Sport, a Nottingham based charity which gives people with Cerebral Palsy sporting opportunities is one of the main beneficiaries. The Trent Bridge Community Sports Trust, Nottinghamshire’s charitable arm, will also benefit with funds directed to community projects.
