Powick Primary School Worcester hit for 6 playing Urban Cricket in the snow

Andreas (10) plays England team by hitting a 6 during a game of Cricket

Children from a local primary school show that it doesn't matter about the weather when enjoying your favourite sports.

Whilst the England cricket team were soaking up the sun in South Africa last week, back in the UK a much cooler game of cricket was underway! Children from Powick Primary School near Malvern, Worcestershire put down their sledges and took part in a game of Urban Cricket in the snow - howzat for a good idea?!

The first rule of Urban Cricket is that there are no rules - the game can be played anywhere at anytime - and whatever the weather! npower and the ECB (England Cricket Board) have distributed over 70,000 Urban Cricket sets since the scheme began in 2006, and have built five Urban Cricket arenas across the country. As the year 6 children proved in Powick, cricket's not just a summertime game to be played on a grassy pitch - we're helping to encourage children to pick up a bat and take part wherever they are.
