The establishment of a national communications infrastructure is essential to enable the UK to realise the benefits, in terms of energy security, energy efficiency and carbon reduction, that a Smart Grid can bring to customers and businesses throughout the UK. Such a critical communications infrastructure must be resilient, secure and designed with the long term future of a competitive smart-enabled market in mind. RWE npower welcomes the decision by BT to work with its partners towards a solution that is fit for the long term needs of the customers, businesses and the industry, and looks forward to supporting the proof of concept trial in the UK.
