npower employees have been raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support’s 23rd annual World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, with the help of a Strictly star and Olympic champion.
Colin Jackson and Erin Boag joined npower’s workforce to add a touch of glamor to the Coffee Morning, where they hosted a dancing master-class and judged a cake competition, before performing some of their breathtaking routines. Staff also baked cakes with added sparkle which were sold to raise money for Macmillan.
Colin comments: “Erin and I had great fun at the npower offices. There were some great movers, and hopefully the dancing helped us to burn off some calories as Erin and I enjoyed sampling a wide selection of homemade cakes, awarding the best with gold, silver and bronze prizes!”
Erin adds: “The tour was great fun and we hope that npower staff will use their new moves the next time they take to the dance floor. Like many people, I have lost members of my family to cancer, including both of my grandparents, so Macmillan is a charity that’s close to my heart.”
Clare McDougall, head of community for npower, concludes: “We’re delighted with the amount of money raised by our staff for Macmillan. It was a fabulous event which went down a storm. Colin and Erin certainly added a touch of glamour and fun to our Coffee Morning which encouraged staff to dig deep for this worthwhile cause.
“Over the last nine years, RWE npower has raised in excess of £2.3 million for Macmillan. This has been achieved through both large scale fundraising events, and individual efforts from staff who have baked cakes, run marathons, climbed mountains, and more. It’s going to be a great challenge to top this year’s activity in 2014, but we will give it a go!”
